  • Agata Pisko Trio – On Air (CD, 2002)

The repertoire we have chosen for the CD includes popular songs from the Swing era played at that time, or harmonized and interpreted by our trio in a more modern way. Besides, we play our favorites from later times. You will find here a composition by Lennon and McCartney as well as an original by Keith Jarrett. We have also decided to add a Polish flavor. That is why you will hear „Moje Miasto“ (“The Town I Come From”), a pop tune written by a young composer from Cracow, Poland, and „Dwa serduszka, cztery oczy“ (“Two Hearts, Four Eyes”), a Polish folk song.

    Agata Pisko – vocals
Martin Schaberl – nylon & steel string guitars
Christian Seiner – double & electric bass
special guest: Christian Bakanic – accordion

  • Martin Schaberl Quintet NOX – New Ideas (CD, 2002)

“The new members on trombone and drums mean that new ideas and compositions get new perspectives and that new structures are created within the band through the new sound. While in the first 7 years the compositions were more in the direction of fusion and groove due to the sound layer of keyboards, leaning and influenced by musicians like the Yellowjackets, Steps Ahead and Miles, they are now mainly in contemporary jazz music, influenced by people like Wolfgang Muthspiel and Paolo Fresu.
The arrangements are now melodically carried by two wind instruments, often set counterpointwise. The delicate sound of the guitar, electric and acoustic, certainly completes the polymelodic colour in the band’s new sound image by harmonies as well as by the third voice. Through more courage for openness on the one hand and through influences from original music of different cultures up to classical music of other sets, new structures of form arise, which let more open improvisations come to light again. In the future, electronic possibilities such as loop machines will allow these structures to develop further and perhaps even break them open. Martin Schaberl
